More about mailing…

So we’re getting a ton of projects ready to mail this week and out the door which has gotten me on quite a kick about the proper way to mail a wedding invitation.  Here’s a quick guide for if you’re overwhelmed by the piles of each piece of paperie.  (Of course, if you’re truly overwhelmed, Pleasantly Polite recommends bribing your bridesmaids!)

Non-Folded or Single Fold Invitations should be folded with the printing on the outside.  All your enclosures (response set and travel card) should be placed on top of the invitations.  If using a protective or decorative tissue, this should be placed directly on the printed invitation between the enclosures and the invitation.

When mailing Front Design Invitations, fold them with the design on the outside and the printing on the inside.  All enclosures should be placed inside.  If your invitation is Accordion, French, or Tri-fold you would place your enclosures inside the second fold.

No matter what style of invitation, Protective Tissue should always be placed directly over the printing on the invitation.

Enclosures pose no threat to the overall look of your invitation since they usually are designed with the same style in mind.  All enclosure pieces should be placed with the printed side up.  The reception card is first followed by the response set and other enclosures.  The response enclosure should be tucked under the flap of the (always!) stamped response envelope.

You will insert your invitation and enclosures into the inner envelope (if using) facing up (toward the flap) with the folded or left top edge inserted first.

Insert the inner envelope, unsealed, into the outer envelope.  Make sure you face the guests’ names written on the inner envelope towards the flap of the outer envelope and seal.

Your invitations are ready to be mailed!
